In late 2005, Catherine registered a company and set about finding artists and staff to join what she hoped would be quite a party. Comedy @ Trades had its premiere season during the 2006 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. In it's first year, she programmed 27 shows, created six theatres and hosted around 20,000 patrons with a talented team of pioneers for crew. More importantly, everyone had a hoot! Bella Union went on to present three more Comedy @ Trades seasons in 2007, 2008 and 2009, playing host

Event details

Tracy McNeil has been releasing albums in Australia to the adulation of critics and aficionados since her arrival in 2007. Her 2014 release Nobody Ever Leaves received two nominations at The Age Music Victoria Awards for ‘Best Country Album’ & ‘Best Folk/Roots Album’ and was named Australian Artist/Band of the Year in Rhythms Magazine ‐ editor Martin Jones describing their live show as ‘fully realized, world-class country‐rock’.

Throughout her travels in 2015 between Melbourne, Nashville, LA and Canada, productive and cathartic writing sessions would ultimately produce Thieves, McNeil's fourth studio album.

Co-producer Shane O’Mara has applied a healthy dose of Californian shimmer, harking back to the halcyon days of late 70’s L.A. country rock. Driving drum tracks, Laurel Canyon-esque harmonies hung from pop-hooks, and McNeil writing at her most assured and forthright make Thieves an undeniable lighthouse in the storm.

Come celebrate the release of Thieves with very special guests indie alt.country duo Little Georgia (SYD).
Doors open at 8:00pm.
