Event details

“The Umbrellas' Peter Dasent has burrowed deep inside this marvellous music.” - The Sydney Morning Herald
Bravo Nino Rota is a concert of six suites of music from the films of the great Italian director Federico Fellini, composed by revered Italian composer Nino Rota and arranged by Peter Dasent.
Rota and Fellini collaborated on 17 films between 1951 and Rota’s death in 1979, and The Umbrellas perform music from some of the most famous, including La Strada and La Dolce Vita.
Peter Dasent has had a long-standing interest in Nino Rota’s Fellini scores and in 2004 he travelled to the US and Italy on a Churchill Fellowship to research the music and interview Rota’s family, friends and colleagues. A highlight of his trip was viewing the original scores at the Rota archive at the Fondazione Cini in Venice.
Peter will be presenting a short talk prior to the performance detailing this and other experiences in his lifelong search towards “Finding Nino”.
