Event details
Melbourne solo songwriter Sarah Mary Chadwick’s latest release, Roses Always Die (RICE IS NICE) expands on the quiet intensity of her previous work 9 Classic Tracks, exploring memory, grief and personal analysis in a way that few songwriters are capable of.
Unembellished and at times brutally sparse, Chadwick’s songs are presented with a level of conviction and an unflinching approach. This allows her to introduce complex, and often difficult, subject matter into her work in a way that is as vivid as it is understated.
Chadwick was previously the lead singer and songwriter of cult grunge outfit, Batrider, playing alongside Julia McFarlane (Twerps), and Stephanie Crase (Summer Flake, Fair Maiden).
We’re thrilled to welcome Sarah Mary Chadwick to Shimmerlands, in this free show, with support from the very excellent Summer Flake (solo).
