Event details

On Fri Aug 25, CLOSET is interrupting its regular scheduled party programming to fight the impending plebiscite on marriage equality.

Instead of allowing a free conscience vote which might have allowed Coalition MPs to cross the floor in support of marriage equality, the Turnbull Government are instead pushing ahead with a non-compulsory, non-binding postal plebiscite as soon as mid-September.

While we hope the High Court rejects this as unconstitutional, if the worst should happen we need to be ready to fight this plebiscite.

We will be donating 50% of the proceeds from this party to help support Australian Marriage Equality to fight the YES campaign.

POSTER BOY: Sorry, Ryan Gosling... it's Thanks for Nothing Malcolm
This was going to be a party in honour of Ryan Gosling, the Canadian dream boat who has had us swooning from The Notebook to La La Land to making replicants sexy again in the upcoming Blade Runner sequel.

Instead, we're putting our Prime Minister Malcolm back on the poster in honour of him keeping his election committment to hold a completely pointless and unnecessarily divisive national opinion poll that will lead only to an ugly smear campaign and an illegitimate outcome.
