The Operatives and Audiopaxx are proud to present 2 of Australia’s finest, Yahtzel and Akouo. Yahtzel (DJ Set) Akouo Tentendo Nam With his infectious tunes and knack for good humour, it’s no wonder that 22 year-old Yahtzel – aka Max Armata – has amassed a pseudo-cult online following as one of the hottest producers in Australia’s indie-dance selection. One can best describe Australian producer Akouo’s sound as shimmery, futuresque and unlike anything heard before. Joined by Tentendo who is stealing the Hypemachine Charts with his productions for Billy Davis, Blasko and himself at the moment and Operative Nam. Yahtzel first rose to prominence with his debut single Girls in 2013. The track gained major hype within the Australian indie-dance scene – so much that i was featured in Flume’s BBC6 Radio Mix as well as tight upload on Majestic Casual. Proving his success wasn’t by chance, Yahtzel’s follow-up single High With Me harvested over 13 million plays since TheSoundYouNeed posted it in 2013 as well as being named as one of InTheMix’s top tracks of the year. This catapulted him on a 26-stop Australasian tour that included sets at Australian boutique tastemaker festivals including Listen Out, Falls Festival, Your Paradise (Fiji) as well as jumping on the international stages of Holy Ship! and national touring support for ODESZA. Aside from his phenomenal solo career, Yahtzel is also known as one half of the OWSLA and Gold-Accredited (ARIA) duo Carmada. Teaming up with mate L D R U, Carmada have achieved extraordinary success since their formation in 2014, gaining nods from the likes of Skrillex and Diplo, a #1 debut on iTunes AU, a #41 finish for Maybe in the triple j Hottest 100 and sets at festivals across the globe from Ultra Miami, HARD Summer, Stereosonic to Holy Ship!. Another year of wisecracks, new tracks, and insane shows are on the books from the unstoppable Yahtzel, further cementing his status as one of Australia’s trailblazers of electronic dance music. After his reworks of Flume and Childish Gambino took over Hype Machine’s top 5 most popular charts. Akouo soon made a name for himself as a masterful producer and skilled tastemaker, when his infectious single ‘Last Time’ caught the ears of music blogs across the country. Over one million plays across Soundcloud, Spotify and YouTube later, his debut EP ‘Mesa’ shot straight to #1 on the iTunes’ electronic albums chart; a soulful blend of electronic and hip hop featuring dreamy synths, cleverly crafted percussion and brilliant hooks sung by none other than himself. Akouo has since then become an in-demand remixer, appearing on official releases by ZHU, SAFIA, Indian Summer and Jess Kent, as well as curating mixes for BBC Radio 1, triple J and MixMag Lab in Sydney. Akouo has toured across Australia, New Zealand and the United States, and has graced the stages of Falls Festival, Splendour in the Grass, Party in the Paddock and Your Paradise in Fiji. In 2016, Akouo was announced as the main support for Ganz’s Australia tour, and offered an official remix to his single ‘Light Years’ featuring Maribelle. His latest release, Feel That featuring eclectic Australian singer Montaigne, is a testament to the mammoth year that lies ahead for the producer. With a slew of new music scheduled for the coming months, Akouo is slowly but surely cementing his position in the Australian electronic music scene. soundcloud.com/yahtzel fb.com/yahtzelmusic instagram.com/yahtzel twitter.com/yahtzelmusic
