Event details

Third time’s a charm, so they say. Swampland is gearing up to launch issue number three, and you’re invited to the party. The independent print publication is an unabashed love letter to Australian music. Trimming the fat and cutting through the noise, Swampland provides a platform for some of Australia’s most interesting long-form music journalism and original photo essays. ––– Issue three features another rip-roaring list of artists and contributors. Here’s ten reasons you won’t want to miss it: The tireless Triana Hernandez sits down with Gareth Liddiard to discuss his two-decade career and intriguing new project, TFS Records. Jake Cleland sings the praises of Melbourne’s favourite punks, Cable Ties. Aimee Knight ponders the realities of gender politics in the Australian music industry. Holly Pereira tells the story of much-loved Melbourne studio and music space, the Bank. Roj Amedi discusses the esoteric electronica of Darcy Baylis. Kish Lal chats to formidable hip-hop duo Kandere. Doug Wallen charts the recent history of the Canberra music scene, from MySpace to today. Ellen Cregan considers the art-collective sensibilities of Empat Lima. Rising hip-hop superstar Miss Blanks appears in some sumptuous shots from Laura Du Ve. And, Kurt Eckardt gives us a peek into his vast collection of images of Melbourne’s live music scene. With further photography from:Atong Atem, Arnad Hajdic, Morgan Hickinbotham, Alan Weedon, Julia Calabrese, Anna Cunningham, Louis Oliver Roach and Rennie Ellis (courtesy of the Rennie Ellis Photographic Archive). ––– To celebrate, join us with Kandere, Empat Lima, and some very, very special Secret Guests (trust us on this one).
