LINEUP: FUTURE ENGINEERS TRINITY COALESSENCE D-GEN Future Engineers (Lee Batchelor and Keir Cleminson) broke into the Drum & Bass scene in 1997 with their debut 12” release ‘The Silence/Shattered’ on Renegade Recordings. This was followed by ‘Life Support’, the first release to launch Partisan Records. Their relationship with LTJ Bukem’s Good Looking Records began in the late ‘90s when their track ‘Time-shift’ was included as part of the third volume of LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad’s legendary Progression Sessions CDs. Future Engineers music also quickly featured on Good Looking sub-labels - Blame’s 720 Degrees, Tayla’s Nexus Records, and PHD’s Ascendant Grooves. Notable releases emerged through Blames 720 Degree’s label such as ‘Momentum’, ‘Changes in State’, ‘Rogue Comet’ and ‘Organism’. In 2001, Future Engineers released the ‘Technetium EP’ on Good Looking as well as having their track ‘Echo-Location’ featuring on Progression Session 6: Live in Boston. Future Engineers also performed DJ sets supporting LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad at shows across the UK and Europe. After an amicable end to their exclusive contract with Good Looking, Lee continues to produce and DJ under the moniker with releases in 2006 - ’Down-Time’ on PBK’s Camino Blue Recordings, ‘Eon’ on ASC’s Covert Operations (written with Keir), ’Eden’ on Subject 13’s Vibes Recordings and ‘Bionics’, the first release on Electrosoul System’s Kos.Mos.Music. Future Engineers launched Transference Recordings in 2010 with the labels debut release ‘Ellipse EP’, the title track receiving particular DJ support from Calibre. Transference has also showcased the remixing talents of fellow producers Sunchase and Electrosoul System, with their reworks of ‘Scratch in the Surface’ and ‘Dystopia’ respectively. Now residing in Melbourne, Australia, Future Engineers released the track ’Eternity’ on Safire’s Plasma Audio which received support from Noisia Radio and Drum&Bass Arena, a remix of Naibu’s ‘Fighting For Attention’ which is out now on Scientific Records. Transference is set to ramp up the release schedule again in 2018 with a release from Sydney based producers Dauntless and Fuj and a new Radicall EP including remixes by Future Engineers and Dauntless. Free Dope's focus is to bring Melbourne’s DnB scene together to deliver what has now become the biggest DnB party in town.
