NED COLLETTE SIGNS TO IT RECORDS, ANNOUNCES ONE OFF MELBOURNE BAND SHOW JANUARY 18 AT THE GASOMETER
w. guests ORA CLEMENTI & OTHER PLACES
After his sold out run of shows at the Gasometer in 2016, Ned Collette announces his return with a one off eight-piece band show under the open roof.
Collette’s next album is finally in the process of being pressed, and having signed a deal with Melbourne’s burgeoning It records and US label Feeding Tube, it is due for release mid-2018. It’s an album on a vast scale, double LP in length, the product of more than two years work. Though ostensibly his first solo album since 2007’s ‘Future Suture’ it features song-based and instrumental collaborations with Joe Talia, Anthea Caddy, Ben Bourke, and Alexander Garsden. Its centrepiece is ‘June’ – a twelve minute catharsis through a narrative of loneliness featuring The Necks’ iconic Chris Abrahams on piano. Recorded mostly in Berlin, the album was mixed as always by Talia at his new studio in Tokyo, and mastered by Rashad Becker.
As a preview, Collette is playing with a band featuring all the original members of Wirewalker plus a string section. Namely…
Ben Bourke - bass
Biddy Connor - viola and voice
Alex Garsden - electric guitar
Judith Hamann - cello and voice
James Rushford - keyboards, viola
Joe Talia - drums
Erkki Veltheim - violin
Very special guests on the night, Ora Clementi and Other Places
