Event details

Now that our action packed Summer Series at Section 8 has concluded, Autosea is pumped to present something we’ve had in the works for a while. On March 2nd, we dive back into our Friday nights at Boney with none other than techno and deep house machine, Basic Soul Unit. Hong Kong-born, Canada-raised Stuart Li began his career in Toronto’s underground scene, and made his first release as Basic Soul Unit in 2003. Since then, Li has been steadily dropping records on labels across the globe, with names such as Ostgut Ton, Dekmantel, Skudge, Dolly, Philpot, Creme Organization, New Kanada, Versatile, Mathematics Recordings, Still Music, Nonplus+ and Mule Electronic. Li has also assembled works which swing from lush and soulful to crunchy and jacking on his own label, Lab.our Music – a collaborative project with long-time friend and fellow DJ Jason Ulrich (aka J-UL) which began in 2013. Never afraid to blur the lines of genre, Li’s DJ sets are equally as diverse as his productions. On any given night he can be caught throwing down melodic techno, heavy hitting and industrial sounds, deep house, and disco. More recently, Li has been performing a live set during select shows, in which his audience can witness the very rawness of his extensive catalogue of releases. Some of the world’s most respected parties have played host to Basic Soul Unit, including Panorama Bar, Fabric, Robert Johnson, Rex Club – to name a few. 2018 will see Lab.our Music releasing a compilation of Toronto-based artists, a vision formed from the beginning to provide more exposure to local talent. Power-house PWD will be making his mark on Autosea for the first time. The head of The Public Works Department will be supporting our Canadian guest on the upstairs dance-floor. Two close friends of Autosea, Van Oasis and Test Pattern will too be making their official debuts with us. Both talented producers will be putting down their own tracks in sets downstairs in the Bone Zone. The usual squad – your full Autosea team – will be bring their A-Game for our first night party of the year. Paul Lynch, Mitchell Gee, String Theory, Josh Wain and Eskapet are all tightening their laces for this one.
