SLIMZEE A HISTORY OF GRIME Few DJs can boast the enormous impact on Grime of Slimzee, the Godfather of Grime. As a co-founder of Rinse FM, running the station from his bedroom in its early days, Slimzee was instrumental in breaking the Grime sound of the early 2000s. Through his hugely popular show on Rinse and his work with the Pay As U Go Cartel, Slimzee brought artists like Wiley and Dizzee Rascal! to wider audiences for the first time, and earned a gold disc for his contribution to Dizzee's breakthrough album Boy In Da Corner. Slimzee's pirate radio sets featuring Wiley and Dizzee on the mic set a legendary standard for Grime going forward and put the two MCs on the map in their early days. They're still appreciated as some of the finest Grime sets put to air, and when Slimzee returned to Rinse in 2016, his first guest was Wiley. Slimzee is still breaking new talent and keeping Grime innovative with his labels Slimzos Recordings, 2002 Records and RotPot Records, as well as a welcome return to Rinse FM. This is his first tour to Australia, and over the course of extended sets, this pioneer is bringing the History of Grime to audiences down under.
