Event details

Seminal Glaswegian art-rock heavy weights MOGWAI announce their return to Australia, playing Sydney and Melbourne headline shows through March, alongside appearances at Perth Festival and Golden Plains.

Staggeringly prolific musicians, Mogwai have over the past twenty years produced nine studio albums, 13 EPs, two remix albums, two live albums and four compilation albums including 2015's greatest “hits”Central Belters. They’re also established soundtrack titans, sound sculptors behind an impressive spectrum of cinematic releases (both full soundtracks and contributions), including 2016’s Atomic, a Top 20 UK album.

The band’s latest release, Every Country’s Sun, takes two decades of Mogwai's signature, contrasting sounds – towering intensity, pastoral introspection, synth-rock minimalism, DNA-detonating volume – and distills it, beautifully, into 56 concise minutes of gracious elegance, hymnal trance-rock and transcendental euphoria.

Their most transportive album yet, the record builds across eleven tracks, with the final three songs ascending into explosive exorcism, closing with the colossal title track, its searching intensity wooshing towards infinity in a dazzling cosmic crescendo.

“Every Country’s Sun is something of an epic, one with the sweep and sound to take the band to the next level. It doesn’t get more illuminating than this.”– Paste Magazine

“Every Country’s Sun... is comforting in its resolve to be simply a great Mogwai record. From the electronic synth rave of opener “Coolverine” through to the epic, distortion-drenched title track, this is exactly what we’ve come to expect from Mogwai, a band at the peak of their powers holding true to their vision.”– Rolling Stone

Known for their formidable live shows, Mogwai are powerhouse performers, creating towers of guitar and synth-based noise that obliterates the senses.

“Mogwai’s eclectic mix of delicate melodies and thundering noise is at once deafening and charming”– The Guardian
