The Civic is a beloved venue in downtown Auckland that plays host to a variety of events and performances. Located at the corner of Queen Street and Wellesley Street, it is one of the largest entertainment venues in the city. The venue features an expansive atmospheric auditorium with seating for up to 2,300 people. Its varied programming includes local, national and international performing arts, film screenings, concerts, and comedy shows. The Civic is also a base for the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Auckland Theatre Company and a variety of Broadway musicals, plays and ballets.

The Best Foods Comedy Gala returns to Auckland for another side-splitting year, launching the 2019 NZ International Comedy Festival with Best Foods Mayo with a smorgasbord of tasty comedic delights. Leading the line-up for this year's event are New Zealand's favourite South African, Urzila Carlson, 5-star rated comedic maestro James Acaster (UK), The Chase's Paul 'Sinnerman' Sinha (UK), and 2018 Billy T Award winner Melanie Bracewell. And the winner of Best International Show at last year's Comedy Fest Rhys Nicholson (AUS) will return to host this glamorous night of comedy in the stunning surrounds of The Civic. But wait, there's more - further acts to be announced! Expect an all-star line-up featuring some of the best to launch this year's Comedy Fest.
