The Flaming Lips | Concert Hall 30 September & October 1 It’s been 20 years since the American rock legends unleashed their psychedelic pop opus The Soft Bulletin, and to celebrate, the band are making their Sydney Opera House debut – in all their wild technicolour glory – to play their classic album in full alongside their greatest hits. Widely considered the band’s artistic breakthrough leading into Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, The Soft Bulletin is a rollercoaster of breathtaking Beach Boys melodies, Zeppelin-level thump and lush instrumentals that yielded the indelible singles “Race for the Prize” and “Waitin’ for a Superman”. Renowned for their spectacular live shows that have featured everything from neon-lit unicorns, inflatable goblins, rainbow confetti cannons and even sci-fi octopi umbilical cords, strap into the Concert Hall for a rainbow-soaked odyssey of pure pop perfection and rock ‘n’ roll grandeur.
