Peerless Dutch-born producer Martyn [3024/Ostgut Ton] will be performing at Galatos at 18 October 2019.

Martyn’s impact on dancefloor culture over the past fifteen years cannot be overstated. His obsession with dance culture began with teenaged pilgrimages to Blue Note in London, and his renowned all-encompassing Red Zone night in his native Holland. Soon after, Martyn began weaving together the most innovative strands of dance music into his own productions, with many songs becoming archetypal releases for new movements in house, techno, dubstep, and drum’n’bass. He has since worked with crucial musicians such as Four Tet, Steffi, and Marcus Intalex, released on labels including Brainfeeder, NonPlus, and Ninja Tune, held residencies at Panorama Bar and Good Room, and repped bright talents such as Leon Vynehall, 2562, and Jacques Greene via his 3024 imprint.

Two years ago, Martyn had a life-changing health emergency in his studio. It was a moment that led him to reflect on his life, his family, and his craft. Martyn’s new album Voids (released on the seminal Ostgut Ton) is a testament to this process, and his ultimate decision to return to his musical roots. This album and his recent DJ sets are a razor-sharp distillation of Martyn’s musical journey, and the work of an artist with a story to tell. We can’t wait to hear him finally tell it in New Zealand. Dress to dance.
