The Sidney Myer Music Bowl is a large outdoor amphitheatre located in Melbourne, Australia. It is situated in Kings Domain Gardens on the corner of Linlithgow Avenue and St Kilda Road and is one of Melbourne's most iconic music venues. The venue is renowned for hosting some of the biggest acts from Australia and around the world. With a capacity of 12,000 it is one of the largest outdoor amphitheatres in Australia and the perfect spot to take in some of the biggest music events. The venue also doubles as a public park and from November to April Sydeney Myer Music Bowl plays host to the Moonlight Cinema which is a uniquely romantic experience for cinema-goers.

Event details

Established in 2003 in Montreal, Canada, Piknic Electronik was an avenue to showcase international and local DJs in electronic, house and techno. Since its inception Piknic has travelled all around the world and to every single continent (expect Antarctica) from Barcelona to Santiago to Austin to Dubai and now to Melbourne. The party takes place over the summer period from May to September if you live in the northern hemisphere and November to February if you’re in the southern hemisphere.

As the its title suggests not only are guests encouraged to enjoy the myriad of talents electronic acts, they are also encouraged to bring a picnic. There are also a wide range of bars available from cocktails, to local beer and mixed drinks.

In Melbourne the day party takes place from 2pm-9pm so don’t forget your sunnies, as the event is one hundred percent outdoors. The event is held at Melbourne’s iconic Sidney Myer Music Bowl, which has been an important part of Melbourne’s music scene since 1959. Nestled amongst the lush surroundings of Kings Domain, Piknic has seen the likes of Carl Cox & Eric Powell, George Fitzergald and Nina Kraviz take over the bowl.
