Nils Frahm

Friday 22 November 2019
Auckland Town Hall - Great Hall

Nils Frahm had an early introduction to music, learning the piano throughout his childhood. It was through this that Nils began to immerse himself in the styles of classical pianists from previous generations as well as the music of contemporary composers, before forging his own musical path through composition.

Since his first works in 2009 - Wintermusik and The Bells - Frahm has built a reputation as one of the world’s pre-eminent composers. His unconventional approach to an age-old instrument, played contemplatively and intimately, and on a mesmerising scale through his vast stage shows, has won him many fans around the world.

Culminating in his critically lauded opus, 2018’s All Melody [“his masterpiece” Mixmag 9/10 Album Of The Month] Nils has gained global notoriety for his highly developed sense of control and restraint in his work, as well as a breath-taking level of emotion and personality. Today Nils Frahm continues to work as an accomplished composer, producer and celebrated performer from his Berlin-based studio at the renowned Funkhaus.

Over the last five years Friendly Potential has consistently presented crucial and critically acclaimed electronic music artists to New Zealand audiences. It is our great honour to finally present our first live concert, featuring one of the greatest figures in contemporary music.

Join us this November inside the majestic Great Hall for Nils Frahm - live in concert.
