John Smith's Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. It is home to football club Huddersfield Town. The stadium has a capacity of 24,500 spectators. It opened in 1994 as the Alfred McAlpine Stadium, renamed in 2002 after the pubs and brewing company John Smith's. In addition to hosting matches for Huddersfield Town, it also holds rugby league matches, as it is the home ground of the Huddersfield Giants. Aside from sporting events, it hosts concerts and other events, including the 2016 BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
