Hardwick Hall is a beautiful Grade-I listed building set in an expansive estate near Sedgefield in County Durham, UK. The building was designed by Robert Smythson in 1590, to the specifications of the powerful Bess of Hardwick and displays some of the finest Elizabethan architecture in the country. It towers over the estate’s oldest parts, constructed over a century earlier in 1490. Visitors who explore the estate will be able to travel through time to get a sense of life in different eras, from the Tudors to the present day. From the house, you can explore the untouched gardens which were designed by Capability Brown and offers scenic views across the rolling countryside. Hardwick Hall is a popular wedding venue, and the grounds are regularly used for outdoor events and activities.
