The Apollo Theatre in London is located on Shaftesbury Avenue in the West End and is mainly known for its role in presenting musicals. The theatre has a seating capacity of 967 and started its life in 1901 as a music hall under the name 'Dan Leno's Music Hall'. Through the years it has been given an extensive revamp and the latest was in 2013 when a major redevelopment took place. It has staged many popular shows, including The Producers, The Wizard of Oz, and The Phantom of the Opera. The Apollo Theatre has also played host to sell-out performances by international stars such as David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, and Bob Dylan.
