David H Koch Theater (Lincoln Centre) is a performing arts theatre located at 20 Lincoln Center Plaza in New York City. It was built in 1964 and is home to performances by the New York City Ballet and the New York City Opera. The theatre was previously known as the New York State Theater until 2001 when it was renamed in honor of businessman and philanthropist David H Koch. The theatre seats 2,582 with a 75 foot wide proscenium stage, four balconies, and two side boxes. The interior is decorated in burgundy, blue, silver, and gold colors, creating an elegant atmosphere. The stage features sophisticated acoustics and lighting as well as automatic backdrops and an orchestra platform with hydraulic lifts. The theatre is one of the premier venues for performing arts in the city.
