Hagley Park is located in Christchurch, New Zealand. It is the central park in the city and is the largest urban open space in downtown Christchurch, with an area of 147 acres. It was designed and landscaped in the English style in 1855 by Captain J.C. Cracroft. The park provides a variety of recreational facilities, including bike paths, running tracks, cricket ovals, rugby fields, tennis courts, and ornamental gardens. It is also home to the Christchurch Botanic Gardens, with many rare and exotic plants from across the globe. The park also has a number of monuments, including a memorial to the fallen of World War I, and a replica of the Cross of Sacrifice, a monument erected in military cemeteries around the world.
