BARO

Baro stands out as an innovator, melding hip hop, punk, garage, and soul with themes of love, desola-tion, and infatuation. Baro’s debut EP "17/18" landed at #6 in AIR Charts and was nominated for Best Independent Hip Hop at the AIR Awards, marking his true arrival as part of the next generation. His up-coming EP has seen two tasty singles, wdubi and PRETTY, generate tastemaker radio spins, supports for artists like Mick Jenkins, Badbadnotgood, Vallis Alps and Danny Brown, and collaborations with the likes of Flume.
Baro spent 2016 writing, producing and recording his “Just Problems You Need To Know” EP with a full live band. Due out May 19, production help came from Chet Faker/Rat & Co’s Josh Delaney and longtime collaborator Mitch Graunke. The first taste, wdubi, caught high rotation on triple j radio, and latest single, PRETTY, is a brilliant left turn, meshing garage punk with Baro’s unique lyrical outlook.

Among many highlights, Baro was invited to collaborate with Flume for his headline set at Splendour in the Grass 2016, performing for 20,000 fans to close out the festival. In his own right, Baro has also played Falls Festival, Laneway, Secret Garden, and Paradise Music Festival, and is an artist who pushes into new territory with every song, every artwork, and every per-formance he creates.

Praise for Baro:

“Baro is an enigmatic young rapper from Melbourne. His music is equal parts: beautiful, smooth, complex, soulful, distinguished and cool.” - i-D

“Breezy, laid back production perfect for the 18-year-old’s verses to float over before transition-ing to the undeniable hook. It’s warm but still sharp—an extremely compelling offering from the young rapper.” - Pigeons and Planes
