Event details

Ease out of the winter darkness and experience Venus Rising: glowing, hopeful, a celebration of new beginnings and a new chapter in dance. 27 dancers leap and spin in an ever-changing ocean of light, one of the greatest living choreographers, Twyla Tharp's Waterbaby Bagatelles. Celebrate the beauty of the broken, Alice Topp's award-winning Aurum is inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi, the practice of mending cracks in ceramics with gold. Venus Rising is completed by two works by leading international choreographers, Andrea Schermoly's (creator of 2018's acclaimed Stand to Reason) Within Without and our new Choreographer in Residence Sarah Foster-Sproull's premiere of Ultra Folly. Please note: There is no elevator in the Opera House and access to the Dress Circle and Gallery are via stairs. The Gallery may be unsuitable for patrons with accessibility requirements or experience vertigo. For further information, please contact us on 04 916 1205.
